Author Guidelines & Writing Rules
Thanks for your interest in publishing with Journal of Emerging Educational Studies (JEES).
To ensure a smooth submission and evaluation process, all authors must adhere to the structural, formatting, and ethical rules outlined below.
Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned to the authors during the initial editorial screening phase (desk rejection).
1. General Formatting and Layout
-
Manuscript Template: All submissions must be formatted using the official [JEES Manuscript Template] available on our Templates and Forms page.
-
File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (
.docor.docx). -
Style Guide: JEES strictly follows the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA 7th Edition - not APA 6) for text citation, headings, tables, figures, and references.
-
Page Layout: Standard A4 page size, with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins on all sides. Use a clear, legible font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12 pt) with 1.5 line spacing.
2. Structural Elements of the Manuscript
Every submitted manuscript should generally include the following sections in order:
-
Title: Concise, informative, and reflective of the study's core variables (maximum 15 words).
-
Abstract: A single paragraph between 150 to 250 words summarizing the research objective, methodology, key findings, and main conclusions.
-
Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords, separated by semicolons, avoiding overly general terms.
-
Main Text: Typically organized into:
-
Introduction: Theoretical background, research gap, and specific research questions/hypotheses.
-
Methodology: Research design, participants/sample context, data collection instruments, data analysis procedures, and ethical committee details.
-
Findings / Results: Clear presentation of data with necessary APA-formatted tables and figures.
-
Discussion: Interpretation of results in light of the existing literature.
-
Conclusion & Implications: Limitations of the study, recommendations for future research, and actionable implications for educational practice.
-
3. Language and Bilingual Submission Rules
JEES accepts manuscripts in both English and Turkish.
-
For English Submissions: The text must be written in proficient, academic English. Authors are highly encouraged to seek professional proofreading before submission.
-
For Turkish Submissions: Manuscripts must maintain high academic Turkish standards. Upon final acceptance, Turkish articles must include a comprehensive Extended Abstract in English (between 1000–1500 words). The Extended Abstract must follow a structured format: Introduction, Methodology, Findings, and Discussion/Conclusion.
4. Tables, Figures, and Statistical Reporting
-
All tables and figures must be numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) and titled according to APA 7 standards.
-
Tables must be created using the Word table function (not inserted as images) and should not contain vertical borders.
-
For quantitative studies utilizing advanced modeling (e.g., Structural Equation Modeling - SEM, Confirmatory Factor Analysis - CFA, or Mediation Analysis), all relevant fit indices, path coefficients, and reliability metrics must be clearly reported in the text and tables.
5. In-Text Citations and References
All citations within the text and the final reference list must completely match and follow APA 7th edition rules.
-
In-text examples: (O'neill, 2026) for single author; (Williams & Kalay, 2026) for two authors; (Korkmaz et al., 2026) for three or more authors.
-
DOIs: Authors must include active DOI links (in URL format:
[https://doi.org/](https://doi.org/)...) for all references in the bibliography where a DOI is available. This is a strict requirement for indexing visibility.
6. Submission Checklists and Accompanying Files
During the online submission process, authors must upload the following files separately:
-
Title Page: Containing the full title, all authors' names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and active ORCID iDs. (To ensure double-blind review, the main manuscript file must be completely anonymized).
-
Blinded Manuscript: The full text without any author names or institutional identifiers.
-
Similarity Report: A full report from Turnitin or iThenticate (Overall similarity 20 %, single source 3%).
-
Ethics Committee Approval: Recommended for studies involving human participants (as of 2026).
